Future 49er Hockey Players
We're looking for hockey players for the 2009-10 season
 PLAY HOCKEY FOR THE 49ERS
Tryouts- The 49ers host an open tryout each year following Labor Day. The team is open to UNC Charlotte students enrolled in 12 credit hours each semester. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA after their first semester on campus. The GPA does not carry over from a transferring institution.
The Open Tryout is $50 per player
A student ID is required to tryout
Player Dues- The primary source of program funding is player dues. The student officers set dues between $450-600, with the ability to collect more, as needed. The Club Sports Department provides limited funding and private and public sponsors supplement the budget. The team’s primary expense is ice time. The 2009-2010 dues are:
Player dues are payments of $450 and $200
The collection dates are Sept 9 and Nov 1
Practices- We have one or two practices each week. The on ice practices are on Tuesday nights at Extreme Ice Center. Conditioning practices are on campus at Hayes Rec Fields, Thursday evenings. Playing time for games is affected by practice participation and evaluated by the coaching staff.
 Games- The 49ers play 20 games each season from September to February. The season is made up of 8-10 divisional games as well as exhibitions with other ACHA teams. In addition the 49ers look to participate in one or two tournaments each season. The Niners annually co-host The Charlotte Shootout, which is the largest college hockey in the Carolinas. Home games are played at the Extreme Ice Center, a convenient 15 minutes from campus.
Equipment- Each member furnishes their own hockey equipment, including a required black helmet. Players wear full cages and mouth guards at all ice times. A sweater, shell and socks will be provided for games. The team may select gloves each member will be encourage purchase.
