UNC Charlotte Hockey is fortunate to have convenient state of the art facilities. The brand new Extreme Ice Center, manicured Hayes Recreation Fields and campus weight room promote the growth of the program.
The 87,000 sq ft facility is conveniently located 15 minutes from campus south on I-485. Two NHL regulation size rinks allow 49ers access to prime evening hours for home games. The goaltenders receive a good workout at shooting practices held on a smaller third sheet of ice. Extreme Ice Center, built in 2006, is complete with a pro-shop, fitness center and conference rooms. The rink is the practice facility for the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL) and home to Team Carolina Junior B (MJHL).
Hayes Recreation Field
Time Warner Cable Arena
The Hayes Recreation Field was completed in 2006 specifically for club sports and intramurals. The 49ers meet for conditioning under the lights during the season.
The official home of the Bobcats (NBA) is a premier destination for Charlotte concerts and events. The 49ers will square-off against Johnson & Wales following a Checkers game as a fundraiser.
Barnhardt Student Activity Center
The SAC features a complete weight room, indoor track, recreational courts, climbing wall and a food court. The center is a social focal point on campus for all athletes.
